Attorney Fischer Helps Client Get Charges Dropped in “Tiregate” Case

Attorney David R. Fischer helped our client get his charges dismissed in the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) “Tiregate” case after Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Eric Goodman found that the state didn’t have evidence proving guilt and performed an improper investigation. Although our client was accused of being the ringleader of the theft conspiracy, Attorney Fischer discovered that the tire tracking system used by NDOT was significantly flawed to the point the state couldn’t’ track the tires involved in the alleged scheme.

“I would think they should have done a lot more work — get their ducks in a row — before bringing charges,” our Las Vegas criminal defense attorney said to Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Our client and six other individuals were charged with theft and embezzlement for allegedly stealing an estimated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tires from an NDOT maintenance facility, reselling them, and pocketing the profit. Although the scheme occurred between 2014 and 2015, the state brought the charges against the individuals three years later in 2018.

Besides our client, only one other defendant had his charges dismissed. The five other defendants all pleaded guilty—in exchange for lighter sentences—to obtaining money or property under false pretenses or attempted possession of stolen property.

With more than a decade of legal experience, Attorney Fischer has helped countless clients obtain favorable results inside and outside the state and federal courtroom. He is a member of the National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 organization and has been named a Nevada Rising Star by Super Lawyers for six consecutive years.
