Field Sobriety Tests
Let a Las Vegas DUI Lawyer Challenge the Evidence
When you are pulled over, you may be asked to perform a series of tests. These tests, known as field sobriety tests, were developed in order to help police officers determine your level of intoxication. While you may find yourself arrested because of the results of these tests, you are not without hope. Field sobriety tests are not always accurate and a skilled lawyer may be able to help you successfully challenge the results of those tests.

Types of Field Sobriety Tests
There are several types of field sobriety tests that are routinely used by law enforcement. You may be subjected to one or a combination of the tests.
The following tests are commonly used by law enforcement:
- Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test: The officer will hold up an object in front of the driver and move it from side to side. They look for involuntary eye movement.
- Walk-and-Turn Test: The officer will ask the driver to walk in a straight line, heel to toe, for a certain number of steps before pivoting and returning.
- One Leg Stand Test: The officer will ask the driver to remain on one foot and balance for a specified amount of time, often while counting down the time out loud.
Unfortunately, the tests fail to take into account variables such as age, weight, medical conditions and more that might make completing the task more difficult. These are the variables that we investigate and just one of the ways we are able to challenge the prosecutions so-called evidence in your case.
