Vegas Crash Driver Lakeisha Holloway Faces 71 Charges

Lakeisha Nicole Holloway, a 24-year-old woman accused of intentionally driving into a group of pedestrians on the Las Vegas Strip, has been charged with 71 different felonies in relation to the incident. The charges include 30 counts of attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon, one count of murder with use of a deadly weapon, dozens of battery counts, and two counts of child abuse. If convicted of all 71 charges, she could potentially face more than 1,000 years in prison.

On December 20th, 2015, Holloway allegedly swerved her sedan onto the sidewalk in front of the Planet Hollywood hotel and casino with her three-year-old daughter in the backseat, injuring more than 30 people and killing one 32-year-old woman. The woman killed, Jessica Valenzuela, was vacationing in Las Vegas in celebration of her 10th wedding anniversary with her husband.

According to authorities, Holloway was homeless and living out of her car with her child prior to the crash. Toxicology reports following the incident indicate she was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash. She is currently being held without bond in protective custody.

Holloway’s most recent court date on February 4th was forced to be postponed as she was reportedly “screaming in her cell” and could not be brought into the courtroom due to her unruly conduct. According to her defense, Holloway plans to plead not guilty to the charges. Her next scheduled court date is February 18th.
